We talk a lot about books on this blog, and for good reason: reading is one of the best and most accessible forms of education. But sometimes we read fiction or nonfiction, not literature. Sometimes we read to escape our environments and live vicariously through the lives of others; sometimes we read to learn; and other times we might be looking for some guidance or wisdom that can't be found in pure text form. As with most things, the best fiction and nonfiction helps us understand ourselves better by putting us in someone else's shoes. It allows us to see the world through someone else's eyes. A great book can introduce us to new people, places, and perspectives that we don't often encounter in our daily lives. It is no small thing when you consider how important it is to empathize with others; after all, there are few problems that can't be solved by simply sitting down and listening to someone's story with an open mind. Fiction can accomplish this goal in a relatively short time frame; nonfiction, while a bit more time consuming might even do this better since great nonfiction requires a lot of research. Nonfiction can show you a whole new world, but it offers no way to live vicariously through someone else's eyes. Until now. Colonel Sanders was an American icon; he taught us that no matter how much adversity we face, there is always hope for America and Americans. It was his dream that all Americans experience the same success he had, and though he never possessed the ability to make it true himself, his legacy lives on. Colonel Sanders gave us our first fast-food chicken restaurant; he created the concept of drive-thrus; and most importantly, Colonel Sanders showed us America's true potential. He was many things to many people, but at the end of the day Colonel Sanders was an honest man with a unique perspective on life. It was his belief that everyone could live a successful life if they had access to the right information. A dreamer by nature, he abhorred injustice and inequality, and sought to level the playing field for all Americans . He wanted everyone to have access to good food at affordable prices, which is why he invented Kentucky Fried Chicken. A fast-food innovator ahead of his time, Colonel Sanders was also one of America's first entrepreneurs. He proved that if you work hard enough, you can achieve anything you set your mind too. He wasn't afraid to try new things and take risks; he was always looking for ways to improve, and thanks to his entrepreneurial spirit we can now continue to enjoy great food with a tantalizing and alluring flavor. Many of us think that Colonel Sanders was a simple man who became a legend through service and diplomacy. He was more than just the man who created the ultimate fast-food chicken restaurant, there is much more about him. Colonel Sanders was also an educator, philanthropist, activist, entrepreneur, egalitarian thinker, entrepreneur ,and humanitarian - all of which led him to create one of the most successful consumer product lines ever produced by an entrepreneur in America. cfa1e77820
